Tutoring System

Lesson Structure

We use a combined system of small group teaching and timed test practice. This ensures that each child receives maximum individual attention as well as being able to experience test conditions.

11 Plus classes for Year 5 are 2 hours in length.  Classes are split into two parts Maths and Non Verbal being taught by a Maths specialist, English and Verbal Reasoning taught by an English Specialist. The teaching session will consist of a small group of a maximum of 5 children, where your child will receive tuition on a group instruction. This will include a timing and technique session to allow your child to become familiar with the test situation and improve their speed and accuracy. The timing and technique sessions are very important as this is an area with which many children struggle in their exams.

11 Plus Course Content

The course covers core content for both GL and CEM tests as used by the Trafford schools

11+ Mock Exam Course

This allows your child to practise 11+ mock tests under real exam conditions. We offer several per year. Children will learn to apply a range of methods and exam techniques and be able to practise completing the computer answer forms as required for most 11+ exams.

Homework

Homework is set each week and forms an important part of the course. Parents are encouraged to take an active role in ensuring homework is completed and marked. A homework diary and further details regarding homework will be provided during the first lesson.

Parent Consultations

Parents receive feedback every half term and are given an opportunity to discuss their child’s progress with a teacher and for Year 5 parents to discuss senior school options.

Fees

Tuition fees are paid in advance of the course commencing and are inclusive of all class workbooks, text books, resources, equipment, past exam papers and tuition in all four subjects. Further details of our course fees, can be found by going to the 'Main Menu' and clicking on 'Courses'.
